Laser system manufacturer LIGHT CONVERSION, UAB has confirmed its plans for capacity expansion. A new manufacturing building is due to appear by fall 2021.
The new five-storey building is slated to accommodate manufacturing facilities. Covering a total area of 11,200 sq. m, the facilities will include a series of laboratories, a laser system manufacturing line, research space, as well as a clean room unit – the extremely clean manufacturing facilities designed for the assembly of highly sensitive laser components.
‘Capacity expansion became a necessity around a year ago, after we had made an assessment of the growing need for femtosecond lasers and their systems on the market. We see certain opportunities both in the fields of research and industrial market; medical application of LIGHT CONVERSION’s femtosecond laser systems is on the rise as well,’ said Martynas Barkauskas, LIGHT CONVERSION, UAB’s CEO.
According to the plan, the construction will break ground in summer 2020 and will be complete in September 2021.
Over recent years, the company has been undergoing rapid growth and development. The year 2013 saw a move to a new building in Dvarčionys. An additional scientific–research block was inaugurated in summer 2018, engaging in research and development of cutting-edge lasers. The gross area designated for science and manufacture currently stands at 6,500 sq. m.
