“Open Readings” is an international academic platform for students and young researchers from all over the world to present their ongoing research results and practices in Physics and the Natural Sciences.
LIGHT CONVERSION is a long-time sponsor of the annual conference for students of physics and natural science “Open Readings”.
Around 500 participants from over 10 countries have registered for the conference. Students and young researchers will have the opportunity not only to present their work but also to listen to well-known scientists. Key speakers from all over the world take the virtual stage in Vilnius on 16-19 March 2021:
- Chennupati Jagadish (Australia) is a distinguished Professor of Physics and Head of Semiconductor Optoelectronics and Nanotechnology Group at the Australian National University Research School of Physics and Engineering.
- Urtė Neniškytė (Lithuania) completed her PhD program in biochemistry at St John’s College of the University of Cambridge, UK in 2012. has received several awards, including International Brain Research Organization Return Home Fellowship (2017), to support the establishment of her group, UNESCO-L‘Oreal For Women in Science, and International Rising Talents awards. She has also been awarded the Marie Sklodowska Curie fellowship twice – once in 2012 and once in 2016.
- Eglė Čekanavičiūtė (USA) is a Principal Investigator and Research Scientist in the Radiation Biophysics Laboratory, Space Biosciences Research Branch at NASA Ames.
- Tomas Tamulevičius (Lithuania) is a Professor and Chief Researcher at the Institute of Materials Science of Kaunas University of Technology. He is also the Principal Investigator of the Applied optics and photonics scientific group.
- Mihir Pendharkar (USA) PhD research in the Chris Palmstrøm group at UCSB focused on MBE growth of low dimensional narrow band gap III-V semiconductors (quantum wires and wells) and superconductors for applications in topological quantum computation.
- Klaus-Dieter Kreuer’s obtained his PhD in the department of Chemistry at the University of Stuttgart (Germany). Klaus-Dieter Kreuer’s research aim is to get a deeper understanding of ion conduction phenomena in order to develop ion-conducting materials for electrochemical applications such as fuel cells and batteries.
- Daniele Faccio (United Kingdom) is a Royal Academy Chair in Emerging Technologies and Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and Optical Society of America. He joined the University of Glasgow in 2017 as a Professor in Quantum Technologies where he now leads the Extreme Light group and is Director of Research for the School of Physics and Astronomy.
The “Open Readings” annual conference plays an important role in bringing students and young researchers together. It enables them to share their skills and insights and expand their networks and interactions.
