RoHS Compliance
European Directive 2011/65/EU – The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS Recast or RoHS 2) sets obligations for manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment to limit the use of six hazardous substances Cadmium, Mercury, Lead, Hexavalent Chromium, Polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). Directive 2015/863 amending Annex II to Directive 2011/65/EU (RoHS 3) adds 4 substances: Bis (2-Ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), Benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP), Dibutyl phthalate (DBP), and Diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP).
All these substances are not intentionally added to our products and LIGHT CONVERSION is working with each of our suppliers to ensure the RoHS compliance of our raw materials. LIGHT CONVERSION requires its suppliers of components, assemblies, and devices to be in RoHS compliance and to make compliant parts available as needed to support our RoHS compliance. LIGHT CONVERSION suppliers are required to provide information to confirm process compatibility and traceability.
LIGHT CONVERSION is committed to doing business with environmentally responsible suppliers, requiring them to comply with all applicable laws, regulations, orders, and policies in providing materials and services to our company. LIGHT CONVERSION delivers products that comply with the RoHS Directive to contribute to the preservation of the global environment.
REACH Statement
REACH is a European Union regulation concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation, and restriction of Chemicals. It came into force on 1st June 2007 and replaced several European Directives and Regulations with a single system. REACH aims to further improve human health and the environment through the better and earlier identification of certain chemical substances. It is legislation from the European Union and applies to all suppliers (inside and outside Europe) that want to sell, import, or manufacture chemicals and/or products containing certain chemicals within the European Union.
LIGHT CONVERSION products are identified as „articles“ (defined in REACH Article 3.3) and do not release any substances under their foreseen normal use. Suppliers of articles must provide recipients with information on Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) if those are present above a concentration limit of 0.1% on an article level. LIGHT CONVERSION products do not contain any of 209 currently listed SVHCs (Candidate List of substances of very high concern for Authorisation, updated on 25 Jun 2020).
Conflict Minerals
Conflict Minerals are minerals or other derivatives (specifically, Tin, Tantalum, Tungsten, and Gold, also known as 3TG) mined in the eastern provinces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the adjoining countries where the revenues of the 3TG minerals may be directly or indirectly financing armed groups engaged in civil war resulting in serious social and environmental abuses. In July 2010, the United States passed the Dodd-Frank Financial Reform & Consumer Protection Act, section 1502(b), requiring all US public companies and their suppliers to disclose the chain of custody usage of conflict minerals.
While LIGHT CONVERSION is not subject to SEC reporting, our company fully supports this legislation and its position is to avoid using conflict minerals.
LIGHT CONVERSION does not procure 3TG minerals directly from mines or smelters; to support our customers and to comply with our company values, LIGHT CONVERSION is working with our suppliers to ensure that no conflict minerals will be used in our products:
- LIGHT CONVERSION expects its suppliers to source materials from socially responsible suppliers.
- LIGHT CONVERSION expects all its suppliers to comply with the Dodd-Frank regulation.
- Suppliers must pass this requirement through their supply chain and determine the source of specified minerals.
Based upon the declarations of our suppliers and current information provided by them, we confirm that all products that are produced and distributed by LIGHT CONVERSION do not contain “conflict minerals” as defined by Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Financial Reform & Consumer Protection Act.
